A 911 Hang-Up Call Led Deputies to a North Carolina Burglary Investigation and Five Arrests

A 911 hang-up call can leave dispatchers with almost no explanation of what is happening at a home or property.

In Pamlico County, North Carolina, one hang-up call brought deputies to an attempted robbery and burglary investigation that ended with five arrests.

Deputies responded to the Lynch’s Beach Road area on the evening of June 12, 2026, according to WCTI News 12. When they arrived, authorities said they saw several people running from the scene.

Deputies also received information that one person may have been armed with a firearm. Law enforcement officers and assisting agencies searched the area and detained six people as part of the investigation.

Deputies Responded After a 911 Hang-Up

The hang-up call brought deputies to the Lynch’s Beach Road area while people were allegedly still leaving the scene. WCTI reported that evidence gathered there indicated an attempted robbery and burglary had taken place.

A hang-up call may not give dispatchers a full story, but it can still trigger a response when someone may be unsafe or when a crime may still be unfolding.

Authorities Said One Person May Have Been Armed

WCTI reported that deputies received information that one of the individuals may have had a gun, and several agencies helped search the area after deputies arrived.

The Pamlico County Sheriff’s Office thanked local fire departments, Pamlico County EMS, and the North Carolina Highway Patrol for assisting with the response. Deputies detained six people during the investigation, according to the report.

The sources do not say whether anyone was injured, what property was involved, whether entry was forced, or whether anything was recovered.

The sheriff’s office said the victim was acquainted with one suspect and had previously been in a relationship with that person. Authorities said they do not believe there is an ongoing threat to the public.
