Induction cooktops are sleek, modern, and efficient until those ghostly, pale rings appear around the burner zones. It is easy to mistake them for simple water stains or boil-over marks, but when a standard wipe-down fails to remove them, frustration sets in.
These surface smudges are a combination of minerals and microscopic metal particles from cookware that have heat-bonded to the glass. Because this residue fuses to the surface, standard kitchen sprays and acidic DIY mixtures like vinegar often fail to remove it effectively.

1. Wait for the Cool Down

Safety comes first, but chemistry comes second. Applying cleaning products to a hot surface can cause the liquid to evaporate too quickly or, worse, burn onto the glass, creating a bigger mess than the one you started with.
Wait until the “hot surface” indicator turns off and the glass is completely cool to the touch. This allows cleaning agents to sit on the surface and work without drying out prematurely.
2. Apply a Specialized Glass Cooktop Cream

Hold the scraper almost flat against the glass and gently push through the gunk. You’ll see it peel off in layers. If it’s dry, add some cream cleaner for lubrication. Once the mess is gone, wipe with a damp microfiber cloth, then buff with a dry one for a streak-free shine. Your cooktop will look good as new.
