Pennsylvania Homeowner’s Camera Catches Alleged Lewd Act in Backyard, Leading to Arrest
A man has been arrested after the Cheltenham Township Police Department enlisted the public’s help. Officers in Montgomery County, Pennsylvania, posted a few images of a man they say was caught in a compromising position.
The images were pulled from someone’s home security camera and showed multiple photos of a man who appeared partially unclothed in someone’s backyard. The pictures were appropriately censored, with a black box obscuring the nudity.
“The Cheltenham Township Police Department is investigating an incident of indecent sexual exposure that occurred in the area of the 8000 block of Old York Road in Elkins Park on October 22, 2026,” the caption that accompanied the photos said.
A later update said that officers had arrested Jonathan Kolman in connection with the incident. “He was remanded to the Montgomery County Correctional Facility pending further proceedings,” the update continued.
The 31-Year-Old Man Was Arrested on Oct. 29
Kolman was taken into custody by Cheltenham officers, according to the Oct. 30 update. The investigation uncovered that this wasn’t the man’s first run-in with the law, and the post said that he was currently on parole due to two prior lewdness convictions.
Now, he faces new charges, which include indecent exposure, open lewdness, and loitering and prowling at night. According to ABC News, the homeowner whose security cameras captured the strange incident didn’t recognize Kolman, making the situation all the more unusual.
The Man May Face Jail Time If Convicted
The McShane Firm says that indecent exposure convictions can result in up to five years in prison and a $10,000 fine (as long as no minors are present at the time), although additional circumstances can be considered with sentencing, potentially resulting in higher fees and jail time. An open lewdness conviction comes with up to a year behind bars as well as a maximum fine of $2,500, although this can also change depending on additional circumstances, including the presence of minors and other factors.
