A pair of homeowners in Hollywood, Florida, are on high alert after they say they’ve been subjected to months of abuse at the hands of a man named Philip Brown, according to CBS News. The 49-year-old was arrested and charged with criminal mischief after homeowners say that he’s done more than $1,000 worth of damage to a local home.
But the craziest part of the situation is that the homeowners, who asked to remain anonymous when speaking with reporters, say that they don’t actually know Brown, nor do they have any idea why the man would be targeting their home in the first place.
The vandalism allegedly began in April 2026 with something as simple as Brown ringing the doorbell at the home. From there, things escalated, leading to months of anxiety and destructive behavior from the 49-year-old.
Now, the homeowners are scared for their safety and worried about what will happen next.
The Man Has Been Harassing These Homeowners for Months
Brown’s alleged actions were caught on security footage, giving a bit more insight into the types of things he did to the property. In the videos that were shared with CBS News, he can be seen throwing things at the home and stealing the home’s security camera.
“You feel violated,” one of the unnamed homeowners said. “We don’t know this man, and we have no idea why he was targeting our house.”
According to them, Brown has caused thousands of dollars’ worth of damage over the course of his harassment. “It’s been months and months of anxiety,” the homeowner continued. “You are constantly thinking about it, monitoring the cameras and every beep, every movement.”
According to Local10 News, the property is actually the homeowner’s second home. “We don’t know him,” the homeowner told a reporter. “We have no enemies, nothing. It’s vandalism, it’s threats, it’s theft, and we have no idea what he wants from us.”
Brown Has Already Been Released From Jail
As if the months of harassment weren’t enough, the homeowners now have a new reason to worry. While Brown was recently arrested, CBS News says that he has since been released from jail. Now, the homeowners tell the publication they are considering seeking a restraining order against Brown to try and give them a little more peace of mind.
While this situation is certainly scary, it’s not that uncommon. According to the National Center for Victims of Crime, around 13.5 million people are stalked in the U.S. each year. Hopefully the homeowners are able to get some support, both from the police and through advocacy groups like victimconnect.org, so that they can deal with both the physical and mental toll this entire situation has taken on them.
