World’s First ‘Splash Coaster’ Will Combine a Spinning Roller Coaster With a Water Ride
If you love roller coasters and water rides, you may want to plan a trip to France in a few years. O’Gliss Park in the Vendée region of France is building the world’s first Spinfinity Splash Coaster, called Manakai – Typhoon Coaster.
The project announcement says it will combine a roller coaster with a water attraction in a way they say has not been done before.
It also says water effects are built into different parts of the ride, along with the spinning and track elements. The ride will end by going through a pool, creating a wave designed to soak both riders and nearby onlookers.
It is being designed as a family coaster and is expected to open sometime in 2028.
Riders Will Face Each Other

Each ride vehicle will hold four people sitting face to face. The vehicles will rotate as they move around the track, giving riders a different view throughout the coaster.
Manakai will have about 465 meters of track and reach up to 19 meters high. The ride is also expected to handle around 1,000 people per hour, with two vehicles leaving at the same time.
The Water Is Part of the Ride
The big splash at the end isn’t the only water feature planned for Manakai. Water effects will also show up in other parts of the coaster. Visitors who aren’t riding will be able to walk under, around and across parts of the attraction.
O’Gliss Park says Manakai will be the main attraction in a larger new area at the water park. The queue, station, ride vehicles and landscaping will all have an island theme inspired by French Polynesia.
Manakai Opens in 2028
O’Gliss Park opened in 2016 and calls itself France’s largest water park. The park currently has 25 slides, 400 meters of wild waterways, a wave pool and a lagoon.
More than 2 million people have visited since it opened, according to the Manakai project announcement. The park also reported a record 270,000 visitors in 2025.
