American Express Opens Its First Centurion Lounge in Continental Europe for Dutch Lovers

If you have an American Express card that gets you into Centurion Lounges, you now have a new place to stop on a trip through Europe. American Express opened its first Centurion Lounge in continental Europe at Amsterdam Airport Schiphol on Sept. 17.

The nearly 6,000-square-foot lounge is located between Concourses E and F, an area mainly used for non-Schengen and international departures. It is also the 33rd location in the Centurion Lounge Network.

American Express first announced plans for the Amsterdam lounge in 2025. The company said Schiphol was a good fit because so many American Express card members travel through the airport each year.

The new lounge is open every day from 6 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. Eligible card members can stop in before their flight for food, drinks, coffee or just a place to sit away from the rest of the terminal.

The Lounge Has a Dutch Theme

The new Amsterdam Centurion Lounge was designed with the city in mind. Blue, green, and earth tones are meant to resemble Amsterdam’s canals and surrounding landscape, while its famous canal houses inspired other parts of the design.

The lounge also features work from several Dutch artists and floor-to-ceiling windows that bring in plenty of natural light.

There Is a Dedicated Coffee Bar

One of the main features is the Blue Roast Coffee Bar, which has baristas serving locally sourced coffee. American Express says the importance of coffee and cafes in Dutch culture inspired the space.

There is also a full bar with beer, cocktails, and wine. The buffet serves seasonal dishes inspired by Dutch and other regional European flavors.

Travelers Can Work or Relax

The lounge has several different seating areas along with a private phone room for travelers who need to make a call or get some work done. Complimentary high-speed Wi-Fi, plus power and USB outlets, are available throughout the space.

Access is limited to eligible American Express card members and their qualifying guests. American Express says lounge access is subject to availability, so travelers may still run into a wait during busy periods.
