Visitors Will Soon Be Able to Watch the Colossus of Rhodes Rise Again at Mandraki Harbor
The Colossus of Rhodes hasn’t stood for over 2,200 years. Next year, visitors to Rhodes, Greece, will be able to see a full-size version of the famous statue at Mandraki Harbor.
The augmented reality experience Rhodes Reborn opens in April 2027. Visitors will use their phones to watch the Colossus appear at the harbor mouth.
Sugar Creative and Rhodes-based 9D Cinema Consulting are creating the attraction. It starts at Throne of Helios and continues on foot through Rhodes Old Town.
The Colossus is only the beginning. More stops will be added during the 2027 season.
You’ll See the Colossus Through Your Phone

The first stop brings visitors to Mandraki Harbor, where the Colossus appears at full scale on their phones. Each stop on the route will show another part of Rhodes’ past. Each location will also feature a short game.
“Every day someone stands at Mandraki and asks me where the Colossus was,” Stergos Stergenakis of 9D Cinema Consulting said. “From April I will be able to tell them to look up.”
More Stops Are Coming
Sugar Creative says the rest of the route will cover ancient, medieval and Knights-era Rhodes. The exact locations haven’t been announced yet.
Rhodes Old Town is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Some of its best-known landmarks include the Palace of the Grand Masters and the Street of the Knights. The Knights of St. John controlled Rhodes from 1309 to 1523.
The Route Starts at Throne of Helios
Visitors will start the experience at Throne of Helios near Mandraki Harbor. The attraction already tells stories about Rhodes’ history and mythology.
Its current 30-minute experience uses moving seats, wind, rain, snow and other effects. Rhodes Reborn will be available there beginning in April 2027. Will you be interested in visiting the new attraction?
