Woman Roasts Influencer Who Claims the Grocery Store Is ‘Stealing Money’ From Her

In today’s world, it can be hard to figure out whether the things people are posting online are sincere or if they’re rage bait. If you’ve never heard of the term, rage bait is used to describe things that people post online to intentionally make other people angry, tricking them into engaging with content that they may not have otherwise done.

That’s why a lot of reaction videos have gotten popular online, because most people enjoy watching others react the same way they did to a post.

However, a recent post from TikToker @itsgioberry makes it hard to tell whether the video she’s reacting to is a genuine post or just more rage bait. That’s because the TikToker she is showcasing had an unusual complaint about her grocery store’s “cash back” option at checkout, and much like @itsgioberry, we can’t really tell if she’s being sincere or not.

Take a look and see what we mean.

TikToker Is Surprised to Learn That the Cashier Gives You Your Own Money When You Ask for Cash Back at the Register

The video in question was posted by @livylooboss2. In it, she explained how for the past year and a half, she’s set her Sunday afternoons aside for grocery shopping. Each time she shops, she says that she makes sure to ask for cash back at the register, since her mom always told her growing up that “cash was king.” As such, she’d ask for a little walking-around money, typically $50.

Now, here’s where the plot thickens. Apparently @livylooboss2 didn’t realize that the cash she was getting back from the register was actually coming from her own bank account. Instead, she thought that it was tied to the figure on her receipt that tells her how much money she saved by shopping at the store.

“So every week I look up on the little screen, and I see how much money I’ve saved from all my coupons. And usually it’s about $50 to $60, so I always press $50 when it asks how much I want,” she explained. “So, PSA, if you did not know this, when you ask for cash back, it’s not giving you the money back that you saved from the store; it’s taking it straight out of your checking account.”

The video cut back to @itsgioberry, who hilariously said, “Yeah, I heard what you heard, and you heard what I heard.”

The Video Went Viral

Of course, the clip ended up making the rounds on TikTok, where it racked up more than 145,000 likes and thousands of comments in less than 24 hours. Plenty of people popped into the comments with perfectly reasonable questions about the original video.

“So when she selected $30 cash back…she didn’t see the total go up by $30,” one person wrote.

I refuse to believe she’s serious,” another person wrote. “It’s got to be satire.”

It was Rage Bait y’all,” another person agreed. “Whew. It did get me at first, livylooboss2.”

Meanwhile, others believed that @livylooboss2 was 100 percent sincere in her video. “I fully believe she actually thought that,” another person wrote. “When I worked at a bank, we had a guy get mad at us because he was unaware the money he pulled from the ATM came out of his account and wasn’t free… genuinely cannot make that up either. To make matters worse, the guy owned a local business. I still don’t know how.”

Whether you believe that the original TikToker was honestly this confused by getting cash back at the register, or you just think that she was trying to get people to react to the story to grow her engagement, one thing is true… @itsgioberry probably had us all giggling with her very sincere and honest response to this story, which made it a perfectly enjoyable way to spend two minutes of our lives.
