This Cruise Ship is Turning into a Floating Paranormal Festival for Halloween
Norwegian Cruise Line’s Breakaway is getting a spooky makeover just in time for Halloween. The ship is leaving Boston on October 25 for a seven-night cruise that will include ghost stories, paranormal investigators, and lots of Halloween activities.
The event is called ParanormaCruise, and it’s being organized by Gather Up Events. According to the event’s website, this is the first year for the cruise, which will feature special guests who have appeared on popular paranormal television shows.
Jessica Chobot, who was on Expedition X, is one of the people coming aboard. Ronny LeBlanc from Expedition Bigfoot and Katrina Weidman from Paranormal State and Portals to Hell will be joining her.
The Halloween celebration isn’t just taking place on the ship, either. Gather Up has a trip to Salem planned before the cruise leaves Boston, plus a few things in the works for the stops in Canada and Bermuda.

Gather Up says guests can expect ghost stories, late-night investigations, and workshops during the cruise. There will also be opportunities to meet the three paranormal investigators and get pictures with them.
Chobot has another show called Occulture Shock, where she looks into folklore and other strange subjects. LeBlanc has also written books about Bigfoot and other mysterious creatures, including his Monsterland series.
The group is planning games, contests, and meetups during the days at sea. Some of the activities will be announced as the cruise goes along, so passengers won’t necessarily know everything that’s happening ahead of time.
Halloween itself will be spent out on the ocean. On October 31, guests can dress up for a costume pub crawl, and Gather Up is planning special events at some of the ship’s bars.
The Cruise Starts With a Visit to Salem
On October 24, organizers have planned a trip to Salem, Massachusetts, with ferry transportation from Boston, walking tours and some free time to explore the city.
Once the ship leaves Boston, its first scheduled stop is Halifax, Nova Scotia, on October 27. Gather Up is exploring a possible storytelling event at the Maritime Museum of the Atlantic, although those plans haven’t been finalized yet.
The Norwegian Breakaway will then spend October 29 and 30 at Bermuda’s Royal Naval Dockyard. Gather Up hopes to hold an event called the Whistlers and Maskers Festival while the ship is there, but the plans are still being worked out.
The second day in Bermuda is being left open for people who want to check out the island on their own. The Norwegian Breakaway is scheduled to arrive back in Boston on November 1.
How Much Does the Halloween Cruise Cost?
According to Gather Up Events, packages start at $2,800 for one person or $3,800 for two people. Prices vary depending on the cabin category. The organizer’s FAQ page says the package includes the cruise fare, taxes, prepaid gratuities, a beverage package and internet access for one device.
That price also gets guests into the parties, performances and a private reception with the paranormal investigators. Dinner with one of the speakers is a separate expense, though.
Anyone booking directly through Norwegian Cruise Line won’t be able to join the special ParanormaCruise activities. Gather Up says guests have to reserve their cabins through the event company, and separate activity passes aren’t being sold. The company has a reservation form on its website, or people can call 865-236-1638 to book over the phone.
