1. Oversized TVs (Or Any at All)

A large screen glowing in the corner of your bedroom might seem like a great way to unwind, but it often does the opposite. Having a television in your sleep space blurs the line between your relaxation zone and your entertainment hub. The blue light emitted from screens can interfere with your body’s production of melatonin, the hormone that signals it’s time to sleep.

Beyond the science, a TV introduces an element of activity and stimulation into a room that should be dedicated to peace and quiet. Moving it to the living room helps your brain associate the bedroom with one thing: rest.

2. A Disorganized Bedside Table

That little table next to your bed can quickly become a magnet for clutter. Stacks of old magazines, multiple water glasses, and a tangle of charging cords create visual noise. A cluttered surface can contribute to a feeling of mental disorganization, which is hardly conducive to sleep.

The solution is simple: pare it down to the essentials. Keep a lamp, your current book, and perhaps a small dish for jewelry. A tidy bedside table promotes a sense of order and serenity, calming your mind as you wind down for the night.

Placing a bed diagonally across a corner can seem like a creative design choice, but it often creates an awkward and unsettling room layout. This arrangement can make the room feel unbalanced and smaller than it is, leaving unused and difficult-to-clean spaces behind the headboard. From a practical standpoint, it disrupts the natural flow of the room.

The most commanding and restful position for a bed is typically against a solid wall, preferably one where you can see the door from your pillow. This positioning provides a sense of security and stability, contributing to a more tranquil state of mind.
