A Florida neighbor dispute over go-kart noise turned into a criminal case after deputies said a man threatened two teenagers with kitchen knives.
The confrontation happened on Eryn Boulevard in Clermont, where a teenager had gone to a friend’s home to work on a go-kart inside a garage, according to WKMG/ClickOrlando.
Deputies said the work involved revving the engine, which allegedly angered Richard Carter. According to WFTV, the teens told deputies Carter yelled at them, threw a lawn chair across a driveway, and told them to leave the neighborhood.
The case shows how fast a garage project, engine noise, and a neighbor complaint can turn into a police call when someone confronts people directly instead of using normal nuisance-reporting channels.
Deputies Say The Argument Escalated With Knives
Investigators said Carter grabbed a chef-style knife and a meat cleaver during the confrontation.
One teen told deputies Carter held a knife near their heads and threatened them if the go-kart engine started again, according to WKMG/ClickOrlando. WFTV reported that one teen dropped to his knees and begged not to be hurt, while the other backed away with his hands raised.
Body Camera Video Captured Part Of The Response

WKMG/ClickOrlando reported that body-camera video showed Carter acknowledging that he grabbed “the first thing” he could in anger.
Deputies told Carter he could not do that, according to the station. FOX 35 reported that Carter told deputies he grabbed the knives because they were convenient items and said he would have grabbed anything because he was so mad.
Carter Faces Aggravated Assault Charges
Carter was arrested and faces two felony counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon without intent to kill.
Records cited by WKMG/ClickOrlando show he was released on bond Tuesday. FOX 35 reported that a judge granted him a $10,000 bond and that he was released around 2 a.m. on June 9.
Noise complaints can be handled through local rules, property managers, HOAs, or law enforcement when needed. Once a dispute involves knives, guns, or threats, the safer move is to step away, call authorities, and save any video or witness details once everyone is out of immediate danger.
