Dog Goes Viral After Bringing a Burglar His Stuffed Toys to Play

Everyone knows that people consider dogs man’s best friend. However, one cute pooch has been accused of being a little too friendly with a burglar when the pup responded to a break-in by trying to play with the intruder, even bringing him stuffed animals as he tried to get the man’s attention. 

Unfortunately for the kind K9, the whole thing was caught on camera, making it hard for the friendly golden retriever to deny his role in the incident. He was even filmed greeting the cops who responded to the break-in with a lot of enthusiasm, trying to get some pets before they came in to investigate the call.

But the good news is that the burglar was eventually arrested, even without Nash’s help. 

Now, the clip is going viral, and people are debating whether Nash is truly “the worst guard dog” or if he just has his priorities a little mixed up. Fortunately, Nash’s owners have weighed in, and they say that it doesn’t matter how good Nash is at protecting the house; he’s still number one in their eyes.

The video appeared on the popular WeRateDogs Threads account, and it appeared to show an unnamed man breaking into a home. While Nash initially hid under the table when the stranger entered, after a while the dog warmed up to the man and walked over to him with his tail wagging and a toy in his mouth. 

“Nash was home alone when a man broke into his house through an upstairs window,” the caption of the video said. “The man made himself comfortable, and Nash excitedly brought him a stuffed toy to play with.” According to the post, the homeowners received an alert from their Ring camera while all of this was happening, and they called the police.

“Nash’s human said, ‘He might not be a good guard dog, but he’s a star in our eyes,'” the post concluded before giving the pup a 13/10 rating.

People Were Obsessed With Nash’s Behavior

Commenters quickly cracked jokes about Nash’s performance as a guard dog. “He’s like, ‘Arrest him! He wouldn’t play with me,'” one person wrote.

“Nash kept him distracted until the police got there,” another person wrote in the dog’s defense. 

“Didn’t even need to see the video; just ‘greeted a home intruder with toys’ to know Golden Retriever,” a third person shared. 

While everyone could agree that Nash was a very good boy, this breed isn’t exactly known for being aggressive guard dogs. According to the My Golden Retriever Puppies blog, these types of animals are better at being protective of humans than property. In short, if Nash’s owners had been home when the intruder arrived, it likely would’ve been a different outcome. However, since there was no perceived threat against Nash’s family, he likely thought of the burglar as a new but unexpected friend.
