The Funniest 1-Star Google Reviews of America’s National Parks and Famous Landmarks

Millions of people visit the Grand Canyon, Golden Gate Bridge, and other famous attractions every year. Most seem pretty happy they made the trip, but you can always count on someone leaving disappointed.

The one-star Google reviews are sometimes more entertaining than the good ones. Some people complain about crowds or prices, while others seem disappointed by the attraction itself.

One person thought the Grand Canyon should have been bigger, while another complained that mountains were blocking the sunset at Grand Teton National Park.

Some of the reviews appear to be jokes, while others seem completely serious. Here are a few of the funniest we found.

The Grand Canyon Wasn’t Big Enough

Comedian Sarah Schauer once gave the Grand Canyon one star on Google with a very short review: “I’ve seen bigger.”

The review was part of a joke that eventually led to other people leaving their own strange reviews of the Grand Canyon. Some claimed they had lost their pants while visiting the park.

The Golden Gate Bridge didn’t impress Google reviewer Lisa Lindemann either. “The Meh Bridge,” her one-star review begins. She also complained that it was “not golden” and had “no gate.”

For the record, the bridge’s name comes from the Golden Gate Strait. The bridge itself is painted International Orange.

Some National Parks Didn’t Do Much Better

Petrified Forest National Park in Arizona earned one star from Google reviewer Jordan Halvorsen, who called it “One huge nothingburger.” Another reviewer, Rob Sims, wasn’t impressed either. “Basically it’s a knockoff of the Badlands,” he wrote.

At Grand Teton National Park, Evan Josiah had a problem the park probably couldn’t do much about. “Could be better. Mountains were blocking the sunset,” the one-star Google review said.

Death Valley Was Too Empty, and Big Bend Was Too Hot

Death Valley National Park also has some memorable one-star reviews. Andy Hobbs called it “a giant litter box,” while another Google reviewer compared the landscape to the surface of the moon.

Then there is Big Bend National Park. One reviewer suggested changing the name to “Big HOT Bend.” Another had an even shorter complaint: “The lizards were not friendly.”

A third person summed up the entire 800,000-acre national park in three words: “Too many rocks,” while a fourth said, “They should call this place Big Desert! I’m going to tell the truth. This place is not worth your money if you have to pay to get in. It’s just a big desert!”
