Yas Island in Abu Dhabi is Spending Billions on New Rides, Attractions and Hotels
Yas Island already has four major theme parks, and more rides and attractions are coming. Miral announced plans to invest more than AED 12 billion, or approximately $3.3 billion, across the Abu Dhabi island.
The money will be spent over the next five years. Some current attractions will get larger, and the plans also call for new rides, entertainment and hotel rooms.
While the announcement of new entertainment options is exciting, unfortunately, the company did not name a single new ride or hotel in its announcement.
Disney fans may assume some of the money is going toward the theme park and resort planned for Yas Island. However, Miral specifically said the Disney project is separate from this investment.

According to Miral, the $3.3 billion will be spread across new developments, additions to existing attractions and hotels.
Yas Island is currently home to Ferrari World Abu Dhabi, Yas Waterworld, Warner Bros. World Abu Dhabi and SeaWorld Abu Dhabi. Miral did not say which of those parks will receive new rides or how much each project will cost.
The plan also includes more hotel rooms. The company hasn’t shared how many it will add or whether it will build new hotels, expand current ones, or do both.
No opening dates are set yet. Since the money will be spent over five years, some of the projects could still be several years away.
New ‘Harry Potter’-themed lands are Coming too
In addition, Miral revealed three Harry Potter-themed lands for Warner Bros. World Abu Dhabi. The new lands will be based on Diagon Alley, Hogwarts and the Forbidden Forest. They will cover approximately 678,000 square feet and include Harry Potter rides found only at the Abu Dhabi park.
Warner Bros. World is also getting two DC attractions called Kryptonite Collider and Superman Up and Away. Together with the Harry Potter lands, they will increase the size of the indoor park by more than 50%.
Construction on the Harry Potter lands is targeted for completion in 2029, but that isn’t necessarily the opening year. Miral also hasn’t said whether the Warner Bros. World expansion is included in the new investment.
Disney Is Not Included in the $3.3 Billion Estimate
Disney announced the waterfront theme park and resort in May 2025. It will become the world’s seventh Disney theme park resort destination. Miral will develop, build and operate the Disney resort. Disney Imagineers will lead the design, and Disney will oversee its operation.
Plans include a theme park, themed places to stay, restaurants and stores. Neither company has announced the cost or opening date. Miral also hasn’t shared opening dates for any of the rides, attractions or hotels covered by its new five-year investment.
