A children’s attraction modeled after the Titanic at a fruit farm in England is causing debate online. The mechanical ship tips upward, sending riders down slides in a recreation of the vessel’s sinking.
The attraction is located at Graveley Fruit Farm in Hertfordshire. The farm introduced its “Ride and Slide” in an official Facebook video in July 2025.
The ride recently received renewed attention after some people questioned whether a deadly maritime disaster should inspire a children’s attraction. The farm initially agreed to change its name but later reversed the decision.
A recent update from Graveley Fruit Farm still calls it the Titanic tipping slide and advertises it as an operating attraction.

Riders enter a replica of the Titanic’s stern. The structure then rises to a steep angle, sending riders down one of four interior slides and landing them on a padded mat.
The attraction reportedly costs £2 per ride. The ship’s name remains clearly visible on its side.
The farm changed the name before reversing its decision
Some commenters called the theme disrespectful because more than 1,500 people died when the Titanic sank on April 15, 1912, after the ship struck an iceberg during its maiden voyage.
The Sun reported that the farm initially apologized and agreed to change the attraction’s name. However, a spokesperson said it received considerably more messages supporting the original theme, so the Titanic name was restored.
Comments were pretty mixed on a Facebook Reel, with one person joking, “How is this ride not called the ‘Tiltanic’?!” However, another wrote, “Reposting this is NOT making this any less sensitive!!! Do you know how many people lost their lives in one of the most talked about tragedies in history? And you’re making a ‘slide and ride’ joke out of it????”
Visitors can find several activities at the farm
Whether you agree with the slide’s theme or not, there are still plenty of other activities to do at the farm. Graveley Fruit Farm is located along the B197, approximately one-quarter mile north of Graveley. Its official website lists pick-your-own strawberries and raspberries, a café, tractor rides, jumping pillows and crazy golf among its attractions.
Activities and fruit availability can change throughout the season. Visitors should check the farm’s Facebook page for its latest schedule before traveling.
