This West Virginia Small Town Airport Moved All Commercial Flights to a New Terminal

Passengers flying through North Central West Virginia Airport will no longer use its longtime commercial terminal. All commercial arrivals and departures moved to a newly built facility beginning Aug. 18.

The airport, commonly identified by its CKB code, is located in Bridgeport. The new terminal has a different address and entrance, making the change especially important for departing passengers and anyone picking up a traveler.

The $70 million facility is approximately four times larger than the terminal it replaces. It was built to modernize the passenger experience while giving the airport room to attract additional airlines and flights.

The North Central West Virginia Airport announced the transition before operations moved. West Virginia officials also held a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Aug. 17 to formally open the building.

The new terminal is located at 1100 CKB Boulevard in Bridgeport. Its main entrance is off Jerry Dove Drive, also known as West Virginia Route 279.

Airport officials warned that GPS and mapping services may need time to recognize the address. Travelers can reach the entrance from Interstate 79 using Exit 124 and following Jerry Dove Drive east. It is also accessible from U.S. Route 50.

The terminal has four commercial gates

The 53,000-square-foot terminal includes four commercial gates, upgraded security checkpoints and more than 500 parking spaces.

A new baggage conveyor allows arriving passengers to collect checked luggage inside the terminal. The old facility, which had been operating since the early 1960s, did not offer indoor baggage collection. The larger building also has an escalator and updated equipment for screening luggage and passengers.

Allegiant and United Express serve the airport

CKB currently offers commercial service through Allegiant and United Express, operated by SkyWest Airlines. United Express provides daily service to Chicago O’Hare and Washington Dulles. Allegiant offers year-round flights to Orlando Sanford, along with seasonal service to the St. Petersburg, Destin-Fort Walton Beach and Myrtle Beach areas.

The old terminal will be repurposed for private charter services and West Virginia University Athletics flights. Commercial passengers should check their airline’s current schedule and proceed directly to the new terminal.
