More than 20 vehicle owners in Cheyenne, Wyoming, woke up to an unpleasant surprise after someone went through a parking lot, puncturing tires. According to the Cheyenne Police Department, the widespread property damage ultimately resulted in the arrest of 47-year-old German Ramirez Jimenez.
Cheyenne Police said officers initially received multiple reports of vehicles with slashed tires near the 500 block of Desmet Drive during the early morning hours. Investigators eventually determined that more than 20 vehicles had been damaged in the area.
Surveillance footage obtained by police appeared to capture a man walking through the parking lot and puncturing tires. The department subsequently shared images from the footage on Facebook and asked members of the public whether they recognized him.
That request apparently worked, as Cheyenne Police later thanked the community for providing tips and announced that a suspect had been identified. Police said Jimenez was arrested that afternoon and booked into the Laramie County Jail on a felony property destruction charge.
Police Turn to the Public After More Than 20 Vehicles Are Damaged
The scale of the damage made this quite a bit more than somebody waking up to discover one inexplicably flat tire. With more than 20 vehicles involved, police were dealing with a parking lot full of owners who presumably weren’t thrilled about suddenly needing tire repairs or replacements.
Fortunately for investigators, surveillance cameras had captured the person police believed was responsible walking around the parking lot. Cheyenne Police initially published the footage while the investigation was ongoing, asking anyone who recognized the individual or had relevant information to contact the department.
Hours later, the department updated its post to announce Jimenez’s arrest and thanked everyone who submitted tips. Police did not provide additional information in the post explaining a possible motive for the tire-slashing spree.

Plenty of commenters couldn’t understand why someone would bother puncturing tires on more than 20 vehicles, which naturally led to jokes about possible motives. “He must own a tire shop,” one person joked, while another similarly suggested investigators should “start questioning tire shops.”
Others wondered whether the incident could be connected to previous vandalism in the same area. One commenter claimed a tire had been slashed across the street several weeks earlier and said it would be “interesting to know if they’re related,” although police have not publicly connected the incidents.
There was also plenty of relief that someone had been taken into custody after police asked the community for help identifying the person in the surveillance footage. One commenter simply summed up the bizarre situation by writing, “People are literally wild in 2026 man.”
