Mattel is Opening Its First Indoor Water Park With Barbie, Hot Wheels and UNO Attractions in Nebraska

Mattel is bringing some of its biggest toy brands to the water with its first indoor water park. Mattel Wonder Indoor Waterpark will open in Bellevue, Nebraska, at the end of 2027.

Mattel gave fans a first look on October 1, showing off attractions inspired by Barbie, Hot Wheels, UNO and Fisher-Price. The indoor water park will be about 100,000 square feet and open year-round.

Barbie is getting an activity pool and a FlowRider surf simulator, while Hot Wheels will have its own multi-slide tower.

Mattel is also putting a retractable roof over the park, letting in natural light and fresh air when weather allows. The company said there will also be themed food and drinks.

The Barbie area will have an activity pool and a FlowRider surf simulator. Mattel hasn’t shared many other details about that part of the park just yet.

Hot Wheels will have a multi-slide tower called “Challenge Accepted.” Fisher-Price is getting a water play structure, while UNO, Rock ‘Em Sock ‘Em Robots and Magic 8 Ball will all be featured along the lazy river.

Martin Aquatic, which is designing the water attractions, also confirmed the park will have themed food and beverage options.

Bellevue Will Be The First One To Open

Mattel first announced plans for a series of indoor water parks in 2025. At the time, Orlando was expected to open first. However, Mattel has now said Bellevue will be the first Mattel Wonder Indoor Waterpark to open.

Other locations are also planned around the country. Orlando, Bradley, Illinois, and Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina, have all been announced. The Bellevue park is already under construction. American Resort Management will operate it once it opens.

The Water Park Has Been In The Works For A While

The project actually started before Mattel’s name was attached to it. The City of Bellevue previously called it Bellevue Bay Indoor Waterpark. The city described it as a 100,000-square-foot indoor water park with a retractable roof. It is being built in Bellevue’s Good Life District.

Mattel added its brands to the project later. Now Barbie, Hot Wheels, Fisher-Price, and several of the company’s games will be part of the finished park. Mattel Wonder Indoor Waterpark is expected to open in late 2027.
