One Connecticut driver is reporting that he witnessed something most people would call crazy. Kevin Klimas said a massive, hair-covered figure crossed the road directly in front of his vehicle.
The alleged encounter occurred near Voluntown shortly before 1:45 a.m. on July 5. Klimas said he had just left a friend’s rental cabin near Pachaug State Forest when he hit his brakes to avoid a collision.
He reported the experience to the Bigfoot Field Researchers Organization, which collects and investigates alleged Sasquatch sightings. The group classified his account as Class A.
That category is used for clear sightings where the group believes misidentification can be ruled out with greater confidence. The classification is the organization’s own assessment and does not prove that Bigfoot exists.

Video shared by MyNBC5 examines the reported encounter and the investigation that followed. A Connecticut investigator interviewed Klimas at the location two days later. The investigator wrote that he believed Klimas had provided an honest description of what he saw.
In his report to the organization, Klimas described a figure standing between 8 and 8½ feet tall. He said it had long brown hair, extremely broad shoulders, unusually long arms and a slightly cone-shaped head. Klimas said the figure walked upright and crossed the road in three steps before disappearing into the woods. It reportedly never stopped or turned toward him.
State Officials Received No Similar Reports
No photograph, video or physical evidence of the alleged creature accompanied the report. The story remains an unverified eyewitness account. Regional animal control, Connecticut State Police and the state Department of Energy and Environmental Protection told CT Insider that they had not received reports of a similar creature.
Some residents interviewed by Hartford CBS affiliate WTIC expressed skepticism. One suggested that darkness, shadows and fatigue could offer a more ordinary explanation.
Pachaug State Forest covers more than 26,000 acres, making it Connecticut’s largest state forest. The Bigfoot organization currently lists 29 reported encounters across Connecticut.
