Dr. Seuss Theme Park Attractions Are Being Developed for Europe and Asia

Dr. Seuss could be heading to more theme parks worldwide. Dr. Seuss Enterprises has signed a new deal with P&P Projects to develop theme park concepts in Europe and the Asia-Pacific region.

This doesn’t mean a new Dr. Seuss park has been officially announced yet. Instead, P&P Projects now has the rights to design concepts that theme park operators and developers could eventually pick up.

The Cat in the Hat, Oh, the Places You’ll Go! and How the Grinch Stole Christmas! are all specifically mentioned in the announcement.

The agreement covers Europe and most of the Asia-Pacific region. China, Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macau are not included.

There is a lot happening with Dr. Seuss over the next couple of years. Both The Cat in the Hat and How the Grinch Stole Christmas! turn 70 in 2027. Oh, the Places You’ll Go! is also getting its first big-screen movie in 2028, while a new animated Cat in the Hat movie is due this year.

Dr. Seuss Enterprises President and CEO Susan Brandt said the company wants to find more ways for fans to interact with the characters outside of books and movies.

P&P Projects will now work on ideas that can actually be pitched to operators and developers. For now, that’s where things stand. No locations, opening dates or specific rides have been announced.

P&P Projects Has Built Theme Park Attractions Before

The Netherlands-based company has operated since 1989 and handles everything from initial design concepts to fabrication and installation. Its current project list includes rides and attractions at theme parks worldwide.

One of those is Symbolica at Efteling in the Netherlands, which opened in 2017. P&P Projects says it joined the project early, when the ride was still known as Hartenhof, and later created theming elements used during construction.

The company has also worked on Batman Gotham City Escape, Nickelodeon Adventure and several museum attractions.

Dr. Seuss Already Has A Theme Park Home In Florida

If you’ve been to Universal’s Islands of Adventure, you have probably already seen what a Dr. Seuss theme park area can look like.

Seuss Landing has several attractions based on the books, including The Cat in the Hat, One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish and The High in the Sky Seuss Trolley Train Ride. Universal’s current park map also lists Caro-Seuss-el and If I Ran The Zoo.

Universal has not been announced as part of this deal, and the companies haven’t shown any designs yet. For now, the new agreement simply opens the door to developing more Dr. Seuss theme park attractions outside the U.S.
