Disney World Guest Caught Swimming in Lagoon Meant for Transportation That Has Alligators

A guest at Walt Disney World was caught on video swimming in Seven Seas Lagoon, even though visitors aren’t allowed in the water. The person was spotted near the dock at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort after dark.

The video was shared by TikTok user MomMakingMagic, who watched the person swimming near the resort’s boat dock.  In the video, the person climbs up a ladder meant for boat crews and runs back down the dock.

MomMakingMagic mentioned the resort’s Lapu Lapu cocktail in the caption, joking that the drink was no joke. The post also reads, “sir, the pool is right there.”

According to Disney’s menu, the Lapu Lapu contains rum and tropical fruit juices and is served in a fresh pineapple. It’s topped with Goslings 151-proof rum.

Disney’s planDisney website explains that guests can use the sandy beaches at the Polynesian, but they can’t go swimming in the lagoon. Boats are allowed in the water, and the resort uses the lagoon for transportation.

A 2016 report from the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission described Seven Seas Lagoon as a large, man-made body of water used mostly for transportation around Disney World. The open water was reported to be about 20 feet deep, with steep drop-offs near the shore.

Investigators also found “No swimming” signs along the beach at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort during their investigation. Disney’s official website lists the Lava Pool, Oasis Pool and Cove Pool, with the Lava Pool featuring a 142-foot waterslide.

Alligators Are Another Reason to Stay Out of the Water

In June 2016, two-year-old Lane Graves was killed by an alligator at Seven Seas Lagoon near Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa. His family had gone down to the beach to watch Zootopia, and Lane was filling a bucket with water for sandcastles.

He was no more than ankle-deep in the lagoon when the alligator grabbed him. His father was standing just a few feet away and tried to pull him free.

The FWC report says six alligators were captured near the attack site afterward. Investigators believed one of two female alligators caught nearby was responsible, but they couldn’t determine which one with certainty.

In an April 2026 news release, the FWC advised people to swim only in designated swimming areas during daylight hours. Alligators are most active between dusk and dawn, when the man appeared to be swimming.
