One of America’s Biggest Rodeos Is Turning Its Fairgrounds Into a Haunted Attraction
If you’re ready for some scares this Halloween season and you’re in the San Antonio area, there is a new event waiting for you. The San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo is turning its fairgrounds into a haunted attraction for three nights this October.
Haunted Hayrides will take place October 22 through October 24. Visitors will board trailers and ride through the fairgrounds while passing Halloween scenes and other scares along the way.
Gates open at 6 p.m., and the first hayride leaves at 7:30 p.m. Rides continue every 30 minutes until 11:30 p.m.
The rodeo recommends the event for visitors ages 12 and older and calls it a “brand-new Halloween tradition.” Since it is only three nights, tickets may sell out quickly.

Visitors can show up well before their scheduled ride. Gates open an hour and a half before the first trailer leaves.
Food and drinks will be available for purchase, along with a live DJ and San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo merchandise throughout the night.
Hayrides leave every 30 minutes, so visitors will choose a date and ride time when buying tickets. The event only runs Thursday, Friday and Saturday night, October 22, 23 and 24.
The Fairgrounds Host Events All Year
Haunted Hayrides will look very different from the annual rodeo, but the fairgrounds don’t sit empty the rest of the year.
The San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo has events on its calendar throughout the fall. Go Rodeo Roundup takes place October 17, just a few days before the first haunted hayride.
Haunted Hayrides are also listed with the organization’s other fundraising events. The rodeo says those events help support its work with young people in Texas.
The Rodeo Returns in February
The regular San Antonio Rodeo returns a few months later. Rodeo competition starts February 11, 2027. The schedule includes 19 PRCA rodeo performances and several special events.
The fairgrounds will also have food, shopping and other activities during the rodeo.
