Pair Accused of Stealing Thousands From Home-Improvement Stores Stopped in Upland Parking Lot
A pair accused of hitting home-improvement stores across two Southern California counties made it as far as Upland before police say their run ended in a parking lot.
The Upland Police Department said the two had gone on a shoplifting spree at several home-improvement stores in Orange and Los Angeles counties, taking more than $3,400 in merchandise.
Once they reached Upland, police said, the pair targeted two more locations and took another $1,000 worth of tools.
This time, officers received a theft-in-progress call while the pair was still there. Police said they stopped them before they could get out of the parking lot.
No Head Start
Both people were arrested on felony charges, according to the department. Upland police also said they expect the pair to be connected to other cases and to face additional charges.
Those charges are accusations, and guilt would have to be established in court.
Police said the stolen tools were recovered and the vehicle the pair had been using was impounded.
