11 New Theme Park Roller Coasters Are Opening in 2027 Around the World
If you love roller coasters, 2027 will be a very exciting year. Eleven new rides have already been announced for theme parks across the United States, Europe and Asia.
Several feature huge drops, high speeds and multiple inversions, perfect for thrill-seekers. Others are joining new theme park lands in the works.
The list includes several rides designed for children and adults to experience together, plus two water coasters. Six Flags alone has several new roller coasters coming to parks across the country.
Unfortunately, most parks haven’t shared an exact opening day and have only said they will open sometime next year.
Six Flags Has 4 New Roller Coasters Coming

The tallest coaster on the list is coming to Six Flags Great Adventure in New Jersey. According to Six Flags, Bakunawa will rise 382 feet above the park and reach 100 mph.
It features floorless cars that spin while the coaster completes three launches. One happens while riders are upside down, and the train pauses near the top of the tower before falling backward.
Six Flags Magic Mountain in California is getting a ride called Thrill Glider. Passengers will hang below the track as they travel through two launches and five inversions at up to 50 mph.
The other two Six Flags rides are being built for families. Werewolf Gorge at Six Flags Fiesta Texas has four launches and 4,120 feet of track, while Sky Hawk will fly through the trees at Six Flags Great America in Illinois.
Disney and Universal Have 3 on the List
Universal Studios Florida is replacing Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit with Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift. The cars will rotate 360 degrees to make passengers feel like they are drifting through turns. It has the same name as the ride at Universal Studios Hollywood, but the Florida version will have a different track.
Tokyo Disneyland is bringing back Space Mountain with a completely new building, story and ride system. Space Mountain: Earthrise will use lights, sounds and onboard audio to make passengers feel like they are actually leaving Earth.
Spider-Man is also getting a coaster at Shanghai Disneyland. Disney says the high-speed ride will be the park’s first major superhero attraction and will anchor an entire Spider-Man-themed land.
Two of the Rides End With a Splash
Holiday World in Indiana is adding Cannonball! to its Splashin’ Safari water park. Groups of eight will climb 90 feet in a raft before speeding across the track and dropping into a pool.
The park says Cannonball! will be the fastest water coaster in the country. It reaches 45 mph and is scheduled to open in May. England is getting another water coaster called Serpent’s Curse. It will join the Viking-themed Valgard area at Paultons Park.
Meanwhile, Waldameer Park & Water World in Pennsylvania is building Eagle’s Pursuit on a hillside overlooking Lake Erie. The family coaster has two launches, a 60-foot drop and a top speed of 46 mph. Eagle’s Pursuit is expected to open during summer 2027.
The final coaster is Midgårdsormen at Djurs Sommerland in Denmark. It will be the first ride at the park to turn passengers upside down. Midgårdsormen has two launches, three inversions and a top speed of approximately 47 mph.
