Imagine you’re letting your dogs out during a beautiful summer evening. And while you’re watching your dogs frolic around next to your house, a massive animal suddenly comes into your yard, aggressively charging you and your dogs.
That’s exactly what happened to one woman living in Big Sky, Montana, when a mama moose and her calf came onto the property. The whole ordeal was caught on Shelly Thorburn’s Ring camera, according to Fox News. The video footage quickly went viral, and people watched in horror as the woman in the video and her dogs were charged by the large creature.
People quickly took to the comments to talk about where the protective dog mom went wrong with the way she handled the situation, especially since she struggled to stay on her feet during the commotion.
But the good news is that the video has a happy ending. And while the unnamed woman and her dogs may have needed a little time to get their heart rates under control after the encounter, it seems like none of them were actually injured during the incident.

In the footage shared with NBC Montana, the woman can be seen running towards her three small dogs as she shouts, “Oh my god, oh my god, a moose, get inside.” A massive moose then lumbered onto the screen, charging towards the woman as she tried to get between the creature and her dogs.
The woman continued to try to chase the moose away while screaming, tripping over the patio and almost hitting her face on a wooden post.
The video then jumped ahead a bit, and this time she had a can of bear spray in her hands, which she sprayed at the moose while yelling. The calf eventually walked into the frame, and then the pair walked off together, finally leaving the woman’s yard.
People Were Not Shy About Sharing Their Feelings
The comments on the video were full of hilarious takes on the short clip. “She’s more of a danger to herself than the moose is,” one person wrote, referring to how the woman almost hit her face on the wooden post when she fell.
Meanwhile, other people couldn’t help but laugh at the lack of urgency among the dogs, who didn’t seem the least bit concerned about the moose. “Ain’t no way I’m about to get A-Town stomped by a moose because my dogs share one brain cell,” someone joked.
While it’s easy to laugh about the situation when you’re not in it, the reality is that moose can be quite dangerous, and it’s likely that the woman in the clip simply feared for the worst. According to A to Z Animals, moose can be quite fearsome animals thanks to their size, and some males can grow to be up to 1,500 pounds. Even if they don’t mean to hurt you, an interaction with a moose can quickly turn deadly thanks to their size and strength.
When you consider the fact that this moose appeared agitated by the time the woman realized it was close, it’s no wonder she was a little out of sorts in the video.
