Water is one thing cruise passengers expect to see plenty of during their vacation, but perhaps not falling through the ceiling of their cabin. A viral video from Royal Caribbean’s Allure of the Seas shows water dramatically flooding an interior stateroom.
Passenger Dominic Arcangelo shared the footage after the cabin next to his began filling with water. He said surrounding rooms and part of the hallway were also affected.
The incident occurred during an eight-night Eastern Caribbean cruise that departed Fort Lauderdale on July 25. The ship is scheduled to return on Aug. 2.
Royal Caribbean had not publicly identified the cause of the leak. The ship appears to have continued its itinerary without any reported delays.
Water Soaked the Bed, Couch and Carpet

The video shared on Instagram shows several streams of water falling through the ceiling. The bed, couch and carpet were soaked as water continued collecting on the cabin floor. “Room next to ours flooded, surrounding hallways and rooms also became flooded,” Arcangelo wrote in the caption.
The video received more than 2.5 million views within a day of being posted. Royal Caribbean had not said how many cabins were damaged or whether any passengers had to be moved.
Allure of the Seas Continued Its Cruise
The ship’s scheduled itinerary included stops in St. Kitts, St. Maarten and St. Thomas. It is also expected to visit Royal Caribbean’s private island, Perfect Day at CocoCay, before returning to Florida. Ship tracking information did not show any changes to the planned route following the flooding.
Allure of the Seas entered service in 2010 and belongs to Royal Caribbean’s Oasis Class. The 1,187-foot ship weighs more than 225,000 gross tons, according to the Royal Caribbean Press Center.
The recently updated ship currently offers six- and eight-night Caribbean cruises from Florida. Its attractions include waterslides, a zip line, an AquaTheater and the Ultimate Abyss dry slide.
