The World’s First Minecraft Theme Park Land Is Coming in 2027 With a World-First Coaster

If you and your family love playing Minecraft, you may want to save up to visit England next year. Chessington World of Adventures has officially announced it will open Minecraft World in 2027, the first Minecraft theme park land.

Merlin Entertainments and Mojang Studios are spending £50 million on the new area. The area will include new rides, play areas, food and shops based on the game.

The park has already revealed one of the rides. Escape the Nether will be the world’s first Minecraft roller coaster, and construction has started, with the track currently being built.

There isn’t an opening date just yet. Chessington has only said that Minecraft World will open sometime in 2027.

Ride Through The Nether

The new ride, Escape the Nether, will send guests on a minecart adventure with Steve and Alex.

The ride reportedly starts inside, in dark mines, where hostile mobs will appear along the way. At some point, riders will pass through a Nether portal before heading back outside into the Overworld. The coaster will have both indoor and outdoor parts.

Merlin shared a look at construction in September and said some of the track is already in place. Chessington also hasn’t announced a height requirement yet, or any details about how fast the ride will be or how long it will last.

There Will Be More To Explore

Guests will also be able to explore play areas inspired by the Overworld, including caves, mineshafts and plains. The new land will feature interactive adventures and large block-built play areas. Minecraft creators have also been involved while Merlin and Mojang work on the new area.

If you’re already visiting London, you won’t have to travel too far to check it out. Merlin says Chessington is about 35 minutes from London Waterloo by direct train.

You Can Stay At A Minecraft Hotel

The Minecraft World Hotel will also open at Chessington in 2027, featuring 69 themed rooms across four floors, including 20 premium rooms and 49 standard rooms.

Guests can walk through corridors designed to look like mine tunnels, while Nether portals will inspire the elevators.

There will also be an underwater-themed restaurant and a potions bar inspired by the Woodland Mansion. Merlin says reservation details will be released at a later date.
