Southwest Passenger Strips on Plane, Forces Flight Back to Houston Gate
Footage of a bizarre disruption aboard a Southwest Airlines flight is circulating again online, more than a year after a passenger stripped off her clothes while the plane was preparing to leave Houston.
The incident happened on March 3, 2025, aboard Southwest Flight 733 from William P. Hobby Airport to Phoenix.
Video shared by NBC News showed the passenger moving through the cabin without clothing as other passengers remained in their seats.
The plane never completed its departure. Instead, it returned to the gate, where Houston police met the flight.

The Houston Police Department told NBC News that officers received a call at about 3:30 p.m. reporting that a passenger had removed her clothes and was causing a disturbance.
Police said the passenger was removed from the aircraft and transported to the NeuroPsychiatric Center at Harris Health Ben Taub Hospital for a medical evaluation.
No charges were filed, and police did not release her name.
Passengers interviewed after the incident said the woman had been asking to leave the aircraft before removing her clothes. One passenger told NBC that she also yelled that she was bipolar. That account reflects what the passenger reported hearing and does not independently establish any medical diagnosis.
A Long Delay
Southwest confirmed that Flight 733 returned to the gate because of what the airline described as a “Customer situation onboard.”
“We’ve reached out to Customers to apologize for the delay in their travels and appreciate their patience as our Teams worked to get them to their destinations as quickly as possible,” Southwest said in a statement reported by The Arizona Republic at the time.
Flight-tracking information cited by USA Today showed the flight had been scheduled to depart at 2:55 p.m. Central time but did not leave until 4:32 p.m.
It arrived in Phoenix at 6:20 p.m. Mountain time.
The incident generated millions of views after video reached social media in March 2025, with many commenters focusing less on punishment than on the fact that the passenger was taken for medical evaluation rather than arrested.
