Man Says He Found an Authentic Frank Lloyd Wright Piece on Facebook Marketplace
Architecture fans are likely very familiar with the name Frank Lloyd Wright. The famed architect is responsible for some of the most iconic homes of the early 1900s, like Fallingwater.
But he did more than design the houses that people moved into. He also came up with some of the furniture, art, glass, textiles, and more that turned those buildings into homes, making them so desirable for an entire generation of people.
Now, a person on Threads claims to have scored an astonishingly well-maintained piece of history. “I don’t know if anyone else will find my most recent Marketplace acquisition as exciting as I do, but I just picked up a Frank Lloyd Wright leaded stained glass oak room divider for $150,” Threads user @heydankurtz wrote.
The post quickly went viral, receiving more than 7,200 likes in the first few hours after it was posted on Sept. 30. But more than all of the likes it received, it also received a lot of comments, especially from amateur sleuths who tried to determine whether it was actually an original Frank Lloyd Wright or a clever dupe.
The Facebook Marketplace Find Was a Hit Online

Hundreds of people jumped into the comments of the post, offering up responses that ranged from celebration to jealousy. “Well, my mom is pissed I didn’t find this for her first,” one person joked.
Others shared stories about their own exciting finds. “My wife and I love to garage sale. She has gotten a $300 set of Le Creuset for $20, and I scored a thousand-dollar commercial espresso machine for $50,” one person wrote. “Neither can compare to your find. Well done, my friend.”
Another person simply commented on how sturdy the room divider looked, writing, “That bad boy must be heavy.”
It May Not Have Been a Frank Lloyd Wright Piece After All
Some armchair experts chimed in on the piece, sharing whether they thought it was a legit find or something else. “It is not an original Wright, but rather in the Prairie style. It’s still incredible and worth every penny you paid,” another person added alongside a screenshot of an AI Overview of the piece.
However, it’s easy to see why the original poster may have been confused. If you look at the room dividers listed on the Frank Lloyd Wright Trust website, there are a lot of similarities, especially when it comes to the glass designs. Combine that with the fact that he was known for spearheading the Prairie style movement, and it makes sense that the Threads user may have been confused.
That being said, the jury is still out on whether it’s an authentic Frank Lloyd Wright or just a really nice piece of furniture. Hopefully, an expert can eventually jump in and tell him what he has.
