Eight Kittens Found in Abandoned Trailer Get a Second Chance at Life
A tragedy was narrowly avoided recently when a homeowner found eight abandoned kittens on their property. River Cities Humane Society for Cats posted about the kittens on Facebook, sharing photos of them while telling their story.
It sounds like the kittens were slightly hidden when they were dumped on the property. “We got a call about a crate covered by a tarp on a trailer that had been dumped on someone’s property,” the post said. “When she looked under the tarp, these cute little heads popped up.”
The rescue used the story as a chance to remind people about the importance of spaying and neutering their pets, highlighting how often stories like this don’t have a happy ending.
Fortunately, it sounds like all of these kittens are safe and sound, and that they will be well taken care of until they are finally ready to go up for adoption. Based on the comments on the post, it doesn’t sound like any of them will have to wait too long to find their fur-ever homes.
The Shelter Talked About Low-Cost Spaying and Neutering
The caption for the photos explained the story of how the kittens came to arrive at the River Cities Humane Society for Cats. In addition to the comments about how the homeowner found the kittens, the rescue said that they were thankful that the woman had stopped to check on the trailer in the first place.
“This is a prime example of how important spaying and neutering is,” the post continued. “It’s one of the best ways we can prevent more kittens from ending up in situations like this. Low-cost options and assistance programs are available locally for those who need help.”
Commenters Wanted to Know When the Cats Would Be Up for Adoption
The photos of the kittens prompted many people to ask about adopting them. “When will they be available for adoption? My mother in law is looking to adopt a long-haired kitten,” one person wrote.
“I would like to get one if they are going to be available to adopt,” another wrote, prompting the shelter to share an update about the adoption timeline.
“Disclaimer: Kittens are not available and will not be for at least two months,” the update said. “We need time to vaccinate and spay/neuter. Be sure to check our website www.rivercitiescats.org to see who is available.”
Fortunately, it sounds like these kittens have a long line of potential adopters who are willing to wait those two months.
