Dubai’s Major Theme Parks Are Reopening After a 6-Month Closure

If you have a trip to Dubai coming up, several of its biggest theme parks are finally reopening. Dubai Parks and Resorts will welcome visitors back on Oct. 7 after more than six months of closure.

The destination temporarily closed its theme parks in March. According to The National, Motiongate Dubai, Real Madrid World, Legoland Dubai Resort and The World of Riverland will all be part of the reopening.

There will also be a few new things to check out. Riverland is adding a bowling attraction and Lamborghini Automobili racing simulators for the new season.

Tickets to Motiongate Dubai and Real Madrid World will start at Dh295 or about $80. Entry to The World of Riverland will start at Dh25 or about $7.

What Is Reopening at Dubai Parks and Resorts?

Motiongate Dubai is the resort’s Hollywood-inspired theme park. It has rides and attractions based on DreamWorks Animation, Columbia Pictures and Lionsgate movies and characters.

Football fans can head to Real Madrid World, which has more than 40 experiences. Some of its biggest rides include the Hala Madrid Coaster and Stars Flyer.

The parks originally closed in March as a precautionary safety measure during heightened regional tensions in the Middle East. At the time, Dubai Parks and Resorts said the closure was in line with official guidance. The company has not publicly explained why the parks remained closed for the full six months.

Legoland Is Coming Back Too

Legoland Dubai and Legoland Water Park are also reopening. The theme park has more than 40 rides and attractions, while the water park has more than 20 slides and water attractions.

The Legoland Hotel stayed open while the parks were closed. The Legoland website currently tells visitors to check back for reopening updates before their trip.

Riverland Is Getting New Attractions

The World of Riverland has restaurants, games and several attractions of its own. Along with the new bowling and Lamborghini racing simulators, visitors can try go-karting, archery, axe throwing, mini golf and other activities.

Dubai Parks and Resorts also has several places to stay, including the Legoland Hotel, Lapita Dubai Parks and Resorts and T-Rex Glamping. The theme parks reopen Oct. 7, just ahead of the UAE’s October school break.
