Woman realizes DIY fail.

DIY Cabinet Makeover Leaves Woman on the Verge of Tears, but Commenters Love It

Kitchen cabinets can make or break a room’s look. Modern or well-maintained cabinets can help the space feel updated and chic.

On the flip side, older or badly worn cabinets can really stand out in a kitchen, especially if the rest of the space still looks pretty good. That’s why a lot of people spend a great deal of money making sure that their cabinets look their best.

For those who can’t afford new cabinets or fancy upgrades, there’s the DIY route. Paint, vinyl covering, and refinishing have all become popular options in recent years, allowing homeowners to update their cabinets on a budget.

However, one DIYer recently experienced a major fail when she tried to update her cabinets. Unfortunately for @tiffanyasimpson, things didn’t work out how she planned, and she was left with a sight that she said had her on the verge of tears.

She Tried to Cover Her Cabinets in Vinyl

It looks like Tiffany’s upgrade involved adding a layer of woodgrain contact paper to her existing cabinets, giving them a quick and easy makeover. In the video, she finishes the last layer before she climbs down to admire her work.

Only when she took a step back to take everything in did she realize she’d made a major boo-boo, and the cabinets were actually two different colors. “I’m new to this DIY thing if you can’t tell,” she captioned the video.

People Didn’t Notice What Was Wrong at First

Fortunately for Tiffany, many commenters didn’t see a problem with the cabinet. “I don’t know what you’re talking about, but I love the brown,” one person wrote.

“I don’t get it; what’s wrong?” another asked.

However, there were those who thought she should leave the cabinets as they were. “Hear me out: ombre cabinets,” one person wrote.

“I kinda like it not perfectly matching, honestly,” another added.

Although the mistake may have cost her time, it may not have been too expensive to fix. It looks like Walmart and other retailers sell contact paper that is meant to be used on kitchen cabinets for just $13.99. Hopefully that means Tiffany can just run out and get another roll of the right color paper so she can finish her DIY project.
