Woman gets weeding tips.

Homeowner Complains About Endless Patio Weeds, the Internet Offers Her Great Solutions

There are several chores around the house that never seem to end. Things like laundry, mowing the lawn, and washing dishes seem like they are constantly getting added to the to-do list, leaving many people feeling like they are in a constant loop.

One homeowner on TikTok was recently complaining about her most persistent chore as she posted a video of herself weeding her paver patio. “Picking weeds until further notice,” @madisongray99 captioned the clip, also including a hashtag indicating she was a new homeowner.

While it seems like Madison simply intended to make a funny video, the clip ended up generating a huge response from people offering her advice on how to make the chore a little easier. People shared all kinds of advice with the new homeowner, recommending everything from more natural options to high-powered chemicals that would kill the weeds on contact.

A mason even chimed in with a more permanent solution for the homeowner, showing that sometimes it takes a virtual village to help tackle those annoying chores around the house.

Madison’s Oct. 4 clip received over 130 comments as of the time of publication, and most of them were from people who were eager to give her advice.

“Best advice I ever got was using pool salt,” one person wrote, saying that it cost them $7 for a bag at Lowe’s.

“Or just buy RM43 spray away and then a week [later] they [will be] gone for well over a year,” another person wrote. “Do not use it anywhere you want anything to grow. It’s not a weed killer; it’s an anything-green killer.”

Another person had a more explosive suggestion and said that Madison could quickly burn them away. “You can use a torch with propane,” they suggested.

“Landscape company here, torch them and fill with masonry sand,” someone claiming to be an expert wrote.

How to Keep Weeds Away

A lot of the suggestions included in the comments were good. However, Astro Masonry’s website says the best offense is a good defense when it comes to weeds, and it suggests using polymeric sand and resin-based joint compounds to keep weeds from growing in between the pavers in the first place.

Of course, to do that, Madison will need to remove the ones that are already growing there. Good thing she received so much advice on her post. Hopefully she’s able to use one of those suggestions to make the chore go a little faster before opting for one of these more long-lasting solutions to keep the weeds from growing back.
