Selma Blair is Taken into Custody After Two Flight Attendants Injured on Delta Flight

Actress Selma Blair was taken into custody after two flight attendants were injured aboard a Delta Air Lines flight from Los Angeles to New York. Port Authority police responded to Flight 938 at John F. Kennedy International Airport on Sunday, October 11, 2026.

The plane was parked at the gate when police received a call around 11 p.m. about a physically abusive passenger. The Port Authority Police Department identified the passenger as Blair, 54.

Blair and one of the injured flight attendants were taken to a hospital for evaluation. Delta said the plane arrived ahead of schedule despite the incident.

Blair appeared in Queens Criminal Court on Monday on two counts of second-degree assault. She pleaded not guilty and was later released on bond.

The Delta pilot called ahead for medical help before landing at JFK. In air traffic control audio from the flight, he mentioned a bloody nose and bite marks.

He said an ambulance wasn’t necessary but wanted medical personnel waiting at the gate. The pilot also said the disruptive passenger appeared to have hit her head against a bulkhead.

Delta told ABC News that police met the plane after it landed. The airline said it would not tolerate unruly or unlawful behavior.

Police Officer and Nurse Reported Additional Injuries

According to a Queens criminal complaint obtained by ABC News, Port Authority police officer Maria Suarez was helping secure Blair to a stretcher when Blair pulled one leg free and began kicking her.

Suarez said Blair kicked her in the face, neck and chest. She had swelling around her jaw and was treated at a hospital.

Another incident happened at Jamaica Hospital Medical Center, where nurse Ashley DeLeo was helping with Blair’s treatment. The complaint said Blair kicked DeLeo in the chest, leaving her with substantial pain. Those two incidents were the basis for the state assault charges against Blair.

Attorney Says Blair Missed Medication

Blair’s attorney, Shawn Barnes, told the court that she had missed several doses of medication for neurological symptoms. Blair has been diagnosed with multiple sclerosis, and Barnes said she had also been working heavily before boarding the flight.

He also brought up the head injury and the altitude during the flight. Barnes said Blair had been confused and that her actions were not intentional. A representative for Blair told ABC News that she had experienced a medical emergency and received immediate treatment after landing. The representative said she was in stable condition.

The judge set bail at $20,000 cash or $60,000 bond. Blair’s next court appearance is scheduled for January 19, 2027. The Associated Press reported that the FBI also issued a federal violation notice related to the incident aboard the aircraft. No date had been set for that court appearance.
