Terrified Amazon Driver Hops off Porch After Getting Scared by a Surprising Pet
Delivery drivers go through a lot. From bad weather to all that heavy lifting, delivering packages can be a rough gig. However, it gets even rougher when you come face-to-face with something that scares you.
Unfortunately for one Amazon delivery driver, that scary moment was caught on video thanks to the homeowner’s doorbell camera, which was shared with the New York Post. The clip quickly went viral, turning the driver’s encounter into his 15 minutes of fame.
The reason why the story spread so far and wide is because of the type of animal the man encountered. While you may typically expect delivery drivers to be scared of aggressive dogs or wild animals, this man’s encounter featured a more unassuming beast.
That’s because the animal that had this man running scared was a harmless rooster. Of course, the delivery driver didn’t know that at the time.
The Man Looked Very Scared When He Saw the Rooster
They say a picture is worth a thousand words, but this video also says a whole lot in the brief clip as the delivery driver tries to leave the porch after dropping a package at the door. The South Carolina man could be seen turning to walk back down the steps when he noticed the two birds in his path.
It looked like the driver was immediately nervous after noticing the birds, and he took a few steps back toward the door and away from the pair. However, one of the birds seemed to be very curious about the man, and it hopped up the steps to the porch, letting out a massive cock-a-doodle-doo that clearly terrified the driver.
The Crowing Bird Was Deemed “Harmless” by Its Owner
In an effort to make a quick getaway, the driver hopped over the side of the railing and ran to his truck. The escape was something that was later played in slow motion, adding another layer of comedy to the clip (especially as he yelled out as he ran).
The New York Post reported that the homeowner found the entire encounter “hilarious,” and she told the outlet that the birds are harmless. But the South Carolina delivery driver had no way of knowing that.
People Joked About the Man’s Reaction Online
While jumping off the porch may have seemed like a reasonable response at the time, people online thought otherwise. “Bro thought chickens wanted vengeance,” one person joked.
“Well, I guess we all now know who’s the real chicken here,” another person added.
However, not everyone thought the driver was overreacting. “Roosters will draw blood; they fight for the love of the game,” a person wrote in defense of the driver. “They’re no joke.”
