Florida Driver Flees Traffic Stop and Hides in a Backyard Shed
A Florida man tried to leave his vehicle behind and hide in a backyard shed from deputies. However, that wasn’t enough, as a K9 followed his trail and found him.
The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office said the incident happened on Thursday, Sept. 3. Deputies had attempted to stop a vehicle, but the driver allegedly took off instead of pulling over.
FOX 13 News reported that the vehicle was later found abandoned on North 48th Street. With no one inside, a K9 Unit began searching the surrounding neighborhood.
Deputies identified the man they arrested as 29-year-old Vaquavien Washington. He now faces several charges, including fleeing to elude at high speed and burglary of an unoccupied structure.
The K9 Led Deputies to a Shed

The video shows the K9 and its handler moving between homes as deputies search the area. The dog eventually focuses on a shed in someone’s backyard. Deputies can be heard giving commands outside the building. A man then comes out and is taken into custody.
The sheriff’s office did not say how far the shed was from the abandoned vehicle or how long the man had been hiding there.
Hiding in the Shed Led to Another Charge
The sheriff’s office also accused the man of burglarizing an unoccupied structure after finding him inside the shed. Officials have not explained whether the shed was locked, damaged or owned by someone the man knew. They also have not said whether anything was taken from inside.
According to the department, he faces several charges. However, its announcement only named fleeing to elude at high speed and burglary of an unoccupied structure.
Deputies Have Not Said Why the Traffic Stop Began
Several questions remain about what happened before the K9 search. FOX 13 News reported that the sheriff’s office has not said why deputies tried to stop the vehicle. It is also unclear whether anyone else was inside before it was abandoned.
The department did not provide the length of the pursuit or say how fast the vehicle was traveling. The available reports also do not mention a crash or any injuries as of now.
