Woman Describes Copper Head Bite, Post Goes Viral

Woman Describes Copper Head Bite, Post Goes Viral

Andy Warhol once famously said, “In the future, everyone will be world-famous for 15 minutes.” He said this decades before the internet made it possible for so many to get their 15 minutes of fame, which makes his prediction that much more impressive.

However, he may have wanted to clarify that not all fame is the good kind, since many people go viral for terrible reasons. Take Threads user kairijaye, who is currently soaking up her 15 minutes of fame thanks to a bite from a copperhead snake that landed her in the emergency room.

She posted a photo of her injury, joking that people should ask her “what a copperhead bite feels like,” while showing off a very bruised and swollen hand. While the injury looked (and sounded) painful, the Threads user later updated everyone to tell them how she was doing after her brief stay in the hospital.

She also shared exactly how she ended up getting bit in the first place, proving that no good deed goes unpunished.

The Woman Was Trying to Save Her Cat When She Was Bit

A commenter scoured the user’s posts on Threads to find more details, and it was discovered that the picture was actually a cross-post from Facebook, where she had shared an update about what happened.

According to the update, the woman was in the hospital from Saturday night to Monday night as she recovered from the snake bite. But the reason she got bitten in the first place was that she was trying to rescue her kitty “Stink Stink,” who had gotten dangerously close to a snake while playing in the driveway.

“I was trying to get her away from it, and I didn’t want to kill the snake as he’s just living life too,” she wrote in the update.

After Saving the Cat, She Went Back for the Snake

It sounds like the Threads user is an animal lover at heart, because after she rescued Stink Stink from the snake, she decided it was time to get the snake to safety as well. However, the snake wasn’t as grateful for the help as Stink Stink was, and the poster said that he “popped off and got my thumb.”

The bite apparently hurt really badly, because she went on to write that the morphine didn’t even touch it while she was in the hospital.

People Were Glad She Went for Help

As most Threads users know, the running joke is that you need to head to a “hopital” when you need significant medical care (everything else can be done at an “urchin care”), so people were happy they didn’t have to tell the woman where she needed to head to be treated.

“Let’s all just applaud you for going to the hospital like a rational person,” one person wrote.

While the original poster commented on lots of the responses after she was released from the hospital, she did go out of her way to thank everyone for checking in on her kitty after she settled back in at home.
