A reported home burglary in Los Angeles turned into a police pursuit that ended with a fiery crash in Beverly Grove, according to police.
The burglary was reported around 5:50 p.m. Wednesday at a home on Sunset Place Drive in the Sunset Plaza neighborhood, NBC Los Angeles reported.
When officers arrived, police said three people ran from the home and sped away in a white sedan.
After a suspected break-in, homeowners should focus on what officers can use right away, including the direction the suspects ran, the vehicle they used, any injuries, and camera footage from doorbells, driveways, alleys, or nearby streets.
The Pursuit Ended Near a Gas Station
The chase ended when the suspects’ vehicle crashed into a gray SUV near 3rd Street and Robertson Boulevard, in front of a gas station, according to NBC Los Angeles.
Video from the scene showed flames after the crash and apparent damage to a nearby utility pole. CBS Los Angeles reported that firefighters appeared to put out flames from the suspects’ vehicle.
Three Suspects Were Arrested After the Crash
Police said the three suspects ran from the crash scene before they were taken into custody.
Their identities had not been released as of the NBC Los Angeles report. Police said they face several charges, including burglary and felony evading.
What Was Taken From the Home Is Still Unclear
NBC Los Angeles reported that it was not yet clear what, if anything, had been taken from the Sunset Plaza home.
A burglary report and arrests do not automatically confirm what property was stolen, how the home was entered, or whether anyone was inside at the time.
Homeowners Should Preserve Camera Footage Quickly
The Los Angeles Police Department advises residents to use quality deadbolt locks, secure windows, and use wide-angle viewers at home.
The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department also recommends motion-detection lights, video doorbells, window and backdoor sensors, and visible security-system deterrents.
