An Orange County homeowner says two separate encounters with unfamiliar men at her door have left her worried about safety in her neighborhood.
The homeowner, who lives in the Monterey and Azalea Park area, told ClickOrlando the first incident happened Saturday, June 20, around 6:30 a.m. She checked the door, saw someone she did not recognize, and was not expecting a visitor.
She said the man left, then came back and rang the doorbell more aggressively. The encounter became more concerning when she heard him move to another entry point and saw him peeking through a window.
When an unfamiliar visitor moves from the front door to a window or another entry point, residents should keep the door locked, speak from inside, and call police if the behavior continues or feels unsafe.
The Man Said He Was Supposed To Meet Someone
The homeowner said she spoke to the man from inside the house and asked whether she could help him. She told ClickOrlando he said he was supposed to meet someone there, and she replied that he was not. After he left, she called Orlando police.
The homeowner said officers responded and patrolled the area for about 15 minutes.
A Second Man Came Days Later
The homeowner said a second man showed up at the home the following Saturday around 3:30 p.m.
According to the report, the second man also claimed he was supposed to meet someone at the address and said he had text messages. The homeowner told him he was not welcome and not to come back.
Cameras and Locked Doors Can Help Preserve Distance
The homeowner said police returned a second time to take down her report. She also said she is working to get security cameras and is considering a women’s self-defense class.
Orlando Police crime-prevention guidance says knowing neighbors can help residents identify suspicious people and vehicles more quickly.
The Orange County Sheriff’s Office advises people to call 911 when they see something suspicious. Residents should avoid opening the door to an unknown person, save doorbell or security-camera footage, note descriptions, and let officers check the situation instead of stepping outside alone.
