Homeowners Can Get Two Free Green Waste Vouchers for Yard Cleanup

Wentworth Shire residents can now apply for free green waste vouchers that may reduce the cost of seasonal yard cleanup.

Wentworth Shire Council has opened applications for its 2026/2027 Green Waste Disposal Vouchers. According to River 1467, the program is intended to help residents with property maintenance and waste management.

Each eligible residential household can receive up to two vouchers. The council says the initiative allows households to dispose of up to a trailer load of domestic green waste for free at participating local waste facilities.

Yard cleanup can produce more material than a regular bin can handle, especially after pruning, storm debris, hedge trimming, garden-bed clearing, or work around overgrown outdoor areas.

Where the Vouchers Can Be Used

The vouchers can be redeemed at Buronga Landfill, Dareton Transfer Station, and Wentworth Transfer Station.

Property owners and tenants can complete the eligibility form through the council website. Applicants should allow up to five business days for eligibility to be assessed and for vouchers to be issued by email.

The Program Is for Residential Properties

The council’s terms say the vouchers are available only to eligible residential properties. They can be used by the property owner or tenant only and cannot be transferred or redeemed for cash.

Voucher use will be recorded under the registered property address in the council’s waste management system. Lost, stolen, misplaced, or unused vouchers cannot be replaced.

The Vouchers Have an Expiry Date

The 2026/2027 vouchers must be redeemed by close of business on Wednesday, June 30, 2027.

Residents planning to cut back trees, clear garden beds, remove branches, or clean up outdoor areas should apply before hauling material to a facility. Green waste voucher programs vary by council, so homeowners elsewhere should check local rules, accepted materials, load limits, and expiry dates before starting a cleanup.
