Three People Were Shot at a Butchertown Airbnb House Party, Police Say

Three people were taken to the hospital after a shooting at a reported Airbnb house party in Louisville’s Butchertown neighborhood, police said.

Louisville Metro Police responded to the 1300 block of East Washington Street just before 1:10 a.m. Monday after a shooting was reported, according to WAVE.

When officers arrived, they found a man who had been shot in the leg.

Investigators later determined that three people had been shot during a party at an Airbnb.

Police Said All Three Victims Were Shot in the Legs

Police said all three victims were hit in the legs and taken to UofL Hospital. They are all expected to survive. WDRB reported that officers applied a tourniquet to one victim at the scene before requesting more medical assistance.

The victims’ ages were not immediately available in the initial local reports.

The Shooting Remains Under Investigation

The Louisville Metro Police Department’s Non-Fatal Shooting Unit is leading the investigation, according to WDRB. Detectives were still gathering evidence and working to determine what led to the shooting.

LMPD asked anyone with information to call its anonymous tip line at 502-574-LMPD. Police had not announced any arrests in the initial reports.

Short-Term Rental Parties Are Already Restricted

Airbnb’s community disturbance policy says open-invite parties, disruptive gatherings, excessive noise, excessive trash, trespassing, parking nuisances, neighborhood vandalism, serious injuries, reckless behavior, and party-friendly listing advertising are not allowed during reservations.

The company says it may take action when a community disturbance violates its policy, including warnings, listing suspension, listing removal, account suspension, or account removal.

Neighbors can report a party, noise complaint, or other neighborhood concern through Airbnb’s Neighborhood Support team. If an emergency is happening, Airbnb directs people to contact local emergency services or law enforcement.

Short-term rental problems often show up first outside the house: too many vehicles for one property, guests arriving late, noise carrying past the lot line, trash in the street, or people entering yards and driveways that are not part of the rental.
