A four-year-old dog named Lillie Ann in Weston, Wisconsin, is getting credit for helping save a neighbor after she heard something her owners could not, according to WSAW. Lillie Ann was at home with Robert and Karen Fandre while they were watching TV in their living room. Then she started focusing on the door and would not leave it alone.
Robert Fandre checked the hallway, but he did not see or hear anyone outside. Lillie Ann still seemed certain that something was wrong. So, the dog took over and led her owners to a neighbor who was hurt and unable to get up.
The neighbor had been calling for help, but the Fandres could not hear her from inside their home. Lillie Ann apparently could. Once the Fandres found the woman on the floor, they called for an ambulance and got her the help she needed.
The neighbor is now recovering, and the Fandres are respecting her privacy while she gets better. However, they are giving Lillie Ann plenty of credit for knowing something was wrong before anyone else did. The dog’s ears did more than pick up noise from the hallway, because they turned a quiet night at home into a rescue.
How Lillie Ann Got Her Owners to the Neighbor
The Fandres were not looking for trouble when Lillie Ann started acting differently. They were watching television when she became fixated on the door. Robert checked outside because of the dog’s behavior, even though there did not appear to be anything obvious in the hallway.
That first check did not settle Lillie Ann down. Instead, she kept pushing the issue until her owners followed her lead. Once they did, they found their neighbor injured and unable to get back up on her own.
Why the Fandres Already Knew Lillie Ann Was Special
Karen Fandre told WSAW that the family had long felt there was something special about Lillie Ann. This incident only confirmed it for them. After all, the dog heard the neighbor’s calls when the people in the building did not.
Lillie Ann also helps inside the Fandres’ own home. According to WSAW, she alerts Robert to his own health complications as quickly as he notices them. Naturally, the Fandres said anyone unsure about getting a dog should remember what Lillie Ann did.
