Florida Pair Arrested After Fleeing a Crash and Hiding the Damaged Vehicle in a Garage

Happiness Street was unusually literal Saturday night.

A woman photographed smiling broadly in the back of a sheriff’s vehicle was one of two people arrested after deputies say an evening at a Fort Pierce, Florida, residence involved alcohol and several firearms.

The St. Lucie County Sheriff’s Office says deputies were called to the 5100 block of Happiness Street around 9 p.m. Sept. 12 after someone reported people actively firing guns. A witness told investigators a man and woman had been shooting a shotgun, rifle and handguns.

Deputies determined the pair had been firing into the ground. Investigators also learned both had been drinking before and during the incident. No one was injured.

The sheriff’s office identified them as Tiffany Rose Lindo and Jacob Mills, both 25 and from Fort Pierce. Each was arrested on charges of discharging a firearm in a public or residential area and using a firearm while under the influence of alcohol.

The sheriff’s office released a composite showing the residential area, three firearms laid out on a bed, and both people in custody.

Lindo’s expression quickly became part of the reaction. She is shown smiling widely from the back of a patrol vehicle, while Mills sits in another vehicle nearby.

The location supplied the obvious material.

“I’ve never seen someone so happy about being arrested lol,” one person wrote beneath the sheriff’s post.

Another went straight for the street name: “Happiness Street just turned into Sadness Lane.”

Others focused on whether the arrests were justified. Several questioned whether firing into the ground on private property should amount to a crime, while others argued that mixing alcohol with gunfire was reason enough for deputies to intervene.

One commenter reduced the entire Saturday night to four words: “Sounds like a fun Saturday night.”

Last Call

St. Lucie County jail records list the same two charges for Lindo and Mills, with $1,150 in total cash bonds for each. Both were released early Sunday morning.

The sheriff’s office took a less celebratory view of the evening.

“Firearms and alcohol. Two things that should never be part of the same plan,” the agency wrote.

All parties are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
