Qantas Flight Attendant Goes Viral After Rocking Passenger’s Baby to Sleep
Parents traveling with young children know the uncertainty and exhaustion that come with bringing little ones on a long flight, especially when a baby refuses to settle down. One Qantas flight attendant in Australia decided to make the journey a little easier for a family by taking matters into his own hands.
The crew member, identified only as Andrew, spent approximately 15 minutes gently rocking a passenger’s baby to sleep. His help gave the child’s parents an opportunity to enjoy their meals without having to juggle a restless infant.
The adorable moment unfolded on an Oct. 12 flight from Brisbane to Mount Isa, Australia, where fellow passenger Jeliamn Dann noticed the unexpected assistance and recorded it. He later shared the footage on TikTok, encouraging viewers to show Andrew some appreciation.
The video quickly attracted more than 220,000 views in just one day alone. It also sparked an outpouring of appreciation from other travelers, including one parent who actually recognized the flight attendant from a previous journey.

@jeliamndann Sometimes catching a plane with young kids can be tough. But I caught this on my flight to Mount Isa yesterday. Andrew had apparently been speaking with the family before offering to hold their baby. Then, according to Dann, the child was wide awake and having difficulty settling down when the flight attendant stepped in.
Speaking with news.com.au, Dann recalled that other passengers noticed Andrew soothing the child, with several smiling as they walked past.
In his original TikTok caption, Dann explained that Andrew had helped the parents enjoy their meal while he rocked the baby. “TikTok, do your thing and give this man some love,” Dann urged, adding, “From all the tired parents with young kids, thank you sir!!!”

Andrew’s actions also caught the attention of Qantas management.
Daniel Dihem, the airline’s executive manager of cabin crew, praised the flight attendant in comments provided to news.com.au, thanking him for demonstrating the company’s commitment to caring for its passengers.
Other travelers shared their own experiences in response to the video. According to news.com.au, one mother said Andrew had previously helped her while she was traveling alone with her nine-month-old baby.
As Dann explained to news.com.au, seeing Andrew help the family could give other parents a little more confidence about flying with their children.
“There are so many families who are so fearful and anxious of taking their little ones on planes,” said Dann, “but because of this video of Andrew, they have hope.”
