Woman Cries for Three Hours After Passenger Refuses to Give Up Aisle Seat on Flight
A woman wanted to sit next to her husband on a 10-hour flight, but the passenger beside her wasn’t willing to give up her aisle seat. Travel blogger Tomiko Harvey said the woman cried for three hours after she refused to move.
Harvey was flying from Istanbul, Turkey, to Washington, D.C., after visiting Kazakhstan. She shared what happened in an Instagram video showing the upset passenger with her face blurred.
The woman had a middle seat next to Harvey, and her husband was sitting two rows ahead. She wanted Harvey to take his middle seat so she could spend the flight beside him.
Harvey was actually on her way home after traveling to Kazakhstan following her father’s death. She eventually asked the woman if somebody had died, too, but that wasn’t the reason she was crying.

According to Harvey, the woman told her she missed her husband and wanted to lay her head on his shoulder. Meanwhile, he was sitting two rows ahead with his headphones on, apparently sleeping through the entire flight.
Harvey, 55, from Richmond, Virginia, spoke to What’s The Jam about the experience. She had booked an aisle seat for the flight and wasn’t interested in spending the next 10 hours sitting in the middle of a row.
When the plane finally landed in Washington, Harvey said she congratulated the woman for making it through the flight without her husband sitting beside her.
Harvey Has Some Questions About Switching Seats
Harvey made a joke about herself in the caption, saying she might need to “reevaluate my marriage” because apparently she didn’t love her own husband enough.
She also questioned why anyone would expect another passenger to move on a long flight. “If you want to sit together, book together or pay for seat selection,” she wrote.
Not Everyone Agrees With Harvey
Harvey’s video had already received over 4.8 million views at the time of posting. One commenter joked that the husband might have booked the seats himself because he needed a break from his wife.
Others weren’t so quick to criticize the crying passenger. One person wrote, “You never know what someone is going through,” and questioned Harvey’s decision to share the experience online.
