Cruise Line is Bringing Back the Golden Age of Pan Am with Vintage Meals and Cocktails
Holland America Line is adding Pan Am-inspired meals, cocktails and aviation programs to a cruise leaving Miami next year. The company announced on October 9, 2026, that the special events are part of its Pan Am 100th Anniversary Legendary Voyage.
The 28-day cruise departs October 30, 2027, aboard the Zuiderdam and returns to Miami. The ship will follow portions of the routes flown by Pan Am’s old Clipper flying boats through the Caribbean and Central America.
Passengers will be able to order dishes like filet mignon with croquette potatoes and Dover sole wrapped in puff pastry. Holland America also has two special cocktails planned, including one that Pan Am served aboard its flying boats.
Some onboard programming will focus on the airline’s former Clipper Club airport lounges. There will also be guest speakers, including actor Willie Aames from Eight Is Enough and Charles in Charge.

The special menus include shrimp cocktail with boiled egg, asparagus and Louis dressing. Other options are cream of tomato soup, eggplant cannelloni with asparagus risotto and Grand Marnier soufflé with crème anglaise.
The Pan Am Cocktail is made with light white rum, Campari, orgeat, lemon juice and egg white, topped with aromatic bitters. The Clipper Cocktail has Mount Gay Eclipse rum, Dolin Blanc and grenadine, plus a lemon twist.
According to Holland America, Pan Am served the Clipper Cocktail on its flying boats. The food menus are based on dishes from the airline’s earlier years.
What Else Is Planned on Board?
Aames will talk about Pan Am’s history, including the Pacific Clipper’s journey during World War II. Linda Freire, a former Pan Am employee and chair of the Pan Am Museum Foundation, will share stories about the airline and its employees.
Other speakers include aviation storyteller Steve Gray and David Hinson, vice chairman of the Pan Am Museum Foundation. David Kliman, a longtime pilot and Pan Am passenger who has logged more than four million airline miles, is also scheduled to speak.
Holland America is also planning experiences based on the Clipper Club. These were private Pan Am airport lounges where passengers could eat, relax and spend time before or between flights.
Where Will the Cruise Go?
The 28-day itinerary includes 19 ports in 13 countries, according to Holland America. Stops include Nassau, San Juan, Cartagena, Colón and several other destinations connected to Pan Am’s history.
In Cartagena, Colombia, passengers can take a tour in classic roadsters and learn about the city’s emerald trade. Another excursion in Colón, Panama, visits the Agua Clara Locks and Panama Canal Railway.
There’s also a tour to Shirley Heights in Antigua, where Pan Am navigators once used views of the harbor to help guide aircraft. In Trinidad, an excursion includes a visit to the former Pan Am flying boat base at Chaguaramas and the Chaguaramas Military History & Aerospace Museum.
