Southwest is Adding 3 New Nonstop Routes From Pittsburgh, Including a Premiere Flight to Punta Cana
Southwest is adding three new nonstop routes from Pittsburgh International Airport next summer, including its first nonstop from PIT to Punta Cana.
The airline will also fly to Panama City, Florida, and Savannah, Georgia. According to the airport’s Blue Sky News, all three Saturday-only routes start June 5, 2027.
Southwest already carries more passengers through PIT than any other airline. The new routes will bring its Pittsburgh network to 25 nonstop destinations, up from four when Southwest started flying from the airport in 2005.
One of the additions is new for the airport, too. PIT says it has never had nonstop service to Panama City before.
All three new routes will run on Saturdays

The Punta Cana flight will give Southwest its first nonstop between Pittsburgh and the Dominican Republic destination. However, it will not be the only airline flying the route.
American already offers seasonal Saturday service between PIT and Punta Cana, while Breeze Airways plans to start flying the route three times a week on January 7, 2027.
PIT says demand for Caribbean trips from Pittsburgh was up 15% during the first half of 2026 compared with the same period last year. With the new flights coming in 2027, the airport expects to have more Caribbean service than it has had in at least 20 years.
The Savannah and Panama City flights will also operate once a week during the summer season. PIT’s nonstop destination list now shows Southwest on all three routes beginning June 5.
Panama City will be a first for Pittsburgh
Pittsburgh travelers already have plenty of Florida flights, but Panama City is a new one. More than one in four passengers traveling through PIT now fly to Florida, according to the airport. About a decade ago, it was closer to one in five.
The new route will use Northwest Florida Beaches International Airport. It will also be the first nonstop connection between Pittsburgh and that airport in PIT’s history.
Southwest is adding more flights on other routes
The three new destinations are only part of Southwest’s summer 2027 schedule from Pittsburgh.
Flights to Destin-Fort Walton Beach will increase from Saturday-only service to daily service. Southwest will also offer up to two weekly flights to Cancun, including a new Sunday flight.
Tampa will get up to four Southwest flights a day, while Las Vegas will have up to two daily flights. Southwest’s summer 2027 schedule will be its largest ever from Pittsburgh. The airline currently carries about 26% of passengers at PIT.
