Sickly Kitten Stolen Then Returned to Shelter Finally Finds His Forever Home

Guessing Headlights recently reported on Marin, the sickly kitten who was stolen then returned to a St. Cloud, Minnesota shelter. St. Cloud’s Tri-County Humane Society has since released an exciting update to his story.

In a Facebook post shared by the humane society, the nonprofit shared that the kitten, now named Marvin, was adopted by an acquaintance of the animal’s foster mom.

Marvin’s new mom had been following along his journey on social media, and decided that she wanted to add the kitten to her home.

Dani, Marvin’s foster mom, already knew Marvin’s owner as they used to work together, so it seemed like the perfect match.

“Marin’s new name is Marvin, and he has two feline siblings (he hasn’t met them yet, but the scent swapping has begun!),” the Facebook post read.

At first, Dani considered adopting Marvin herself, but her pets sadly seemed not to agree.

But Marvin appears to be settling well into his new home. His new mom shared photos with Dani of the kitten doing lots of sleeping.

“He needs his own FB page,” one user commented on the announcement, referencing Marvin.

Another user added, “Thank you for sharing the good news. I just love happy endings.”

Marvin’s Story

Marvin first received widespread attention for an unhappy reason.

On Sep. 16, shelter volunteers noticed Marvin was missing following his interaction with a visitor. After checking the kennels and around the shelter, he was nowhere to be seen.

The staff checked the security cameras searching for answers when they saw the visitor scoop up Marvin, and put him in their bag before hurrying out.

A Plea for Help

St. Cloud’s Tri-County Humane Society swiftly took to Facebook asking for help locating the kitten.

In the post, they detailed how Marvin had ulcerations on both eyes, and needed daily medical treatment to continue his journey to recovery.

“Marin’s health has improved greatly, but he still needs specific follow-up care. To the person who took him, or to members of the community who may know who took him – we just want him back safely,” the post read.

But the worry did not last for long.

A Safe Return

Only a day after he was stolen, the kitten was safely brought back to the shelter.

In an emotional phone call, the visitor told shelter staff that they dropped Marvin off outside the shelter, and repeatedly apologized.

Less than a week later, Marvin left the shelter again, this time to his forever home.
