Travelers Warned of Possible Measles Exposure at Philadelphia International Airport
Anyone who was at Philadelphia International Airport late Sunday night should check which terminal they were in. The city is warning travelers about a possible measles exposure that lasted for nearly five hours.
The exposure happened from 7:25 p.m. on September 13 through 12:05 a.m. on September 14. The person with measles was traveling through Philadelphia and did not leave the airport.
The Philadelphia Department of Public Health says the traveler was in Terminals B and F, as well as areas used to connect to Terminals C, D and E.
There have also been recent measles exposures at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, but the Health Department says they are not connected to the airport case.

If you’ve had two doses of a measles-containing vaccine, had measles before, or were born before 1957, the city says you’re generally protected. People who have only had one dose have a low risk after this exposure. The Health Department recommends talking to a healthcare provider about getting a second dose.
If you aren’t sure whether you’re protected, call your provider. Parents of infants, pregnant people who aren’t immune, and people with weakened immune systems are also being asked to contact a provider.
Keep an Eye Out Until October 5
If you aren’t immune, watch for symptoms like fever, cough, runny nose, red or watery eyes, or a rash through October 5.
If you have any of those symptoms by October 5, call your doctor before going into the office or hospital. The Health Department says to tell them about the possible measles exposure before you arrive.
The city is also asking people who aren’t immune to wear a mask in indoor public places and around unvaccinated people until three weeks after the exposure.
This Is Not PHL’s First Measles Warning This Year
Philadelphia has issued three other measles exposure notices involving the airport in 2026. One involved Terminal A East on January 7, another involved Terminal E on February 12, and a third covered Terminals A, B and C on July 4.
Health Commissioner Dr. Palak Raval-Nelson said the recent exposures serve as another reminder for people to make sure they are up to date on their vaccinations.
