A Massive New Immersive Screen Just Opened in Downtown Detroit
A new attraction that makes it feel like you are sitting near the field at a football game just opened in downtown Detroit. Cosm Detroit welcomed its first guests on Sept. 10.
The huge, immersive attraction lets guests watch games and movies from inside a three-level dome on an 87-foot screen curving over the seats.
The 70,000-square-foot building also has a large room filled with screens, several places to eat and a rooftop overlooking Cadillac Square.
Unfortunately, a regular admission ticket doesn’t come with a reserved seat in front of the giant screen. Some of those seats can also cost more than $200.
The Screen Curves Over the Audience

The main screen is 87 feet across and uses a 12K LED display. It curves over the audience instead of sitting at the front of the room like a movie theater screen.
Cosm calls this Shared Reality. Basically, the screen fills most of your view and makes a live feed from a stadium or court appear much larger, almost as if you’re there in person.
The building can hold approximately 1,500 people. The Dome spans three levels, with individual seats, spots for two people and larger booths.
Outside the Dome, The Hall has tables and several screens showing different games. Visitors can also get food and drinks on The Deck, an outdoor rooftop with stunning downtown views.
The First Guests Watched Football
Cosm Detroit opened with the San Francisco 49ers and Los Angeles Rams game, which was played in Australia. The opening schedule also includes Detroit Lions games, college football and US Open tennis.
The upcoming movie schedule includes Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone, Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory and The Matrix.
Dome Tickets Can Cost More Than $200
General admission includes first-come, first-served seating in The Hall and on The Deck. It may also give you access to limited standing room inside the Dome, but Cosm doesn’t guarantee a spot.
Reserved Dome seats require a different ticket. Many are sold as booths for groups of two to eight, and you may have to pay for the entire booth even if you don’t need every seat.
Prices depend on the event. For one opening-week college football game, general admission tickets start at $11 and Hall tickets at $17. Dome seats ranged from $88 to $214. Cosm Detroit is located at 25 Cadillac Square. It only opens for scheduled events, so check the calendar before heading downtown.
